these videos are a series all about haile Gebrselassie...he is an ethiopian long distance runner. the greatest the world has seen. however i feel this shows how he has accelerated in his career through so little technology. he lived in poverty...then rocketed to fame and success. he used to run 10k to school every day!!!! I feel that this shows that although later in his career technology affects his performance...his main success came from raw talent and no money. Therefore this challenges the whole question of whether technology is moving away from true talent.
i still believe that technology is so integrated into sport now that there is no way to show that talent is getting better rather than technology making 'talent' better. Even Gebrselassie shows that...yes he was incredibly talented...this gained him money...which introduced technology into his life. there is no escaping it. therefore it is quite impossible to see whether talent is actually getting better or technology is making athletes more talented as as soon as a persons talent is recognised technology is introduced STRAIGHT away.
